DO NOT

Drive Under the Influence of this!!!

Alex Boye

On my way to the Doctor today I stopped by beehive books and bought this

I had previously bought this and LOVED it!

Though, driving in the car with the new one on today could have been very bad!

My eyes were so teary, I could barely see :)

Great CD's though!

Call it what you want...

I am thinking;

She is either practicing for a career at MAC makeup

or

She is showing us a fabulous way to get fuller lips.

Either way, she is amazingly beautiful with that shade of lipstick!

Thanks Jacquie!!!

Thanks Jacquie for the lesson today!!! My biggest adversity is a lifelong one. But, I am a better person having endured it. I hope it continues that way! It is extremely hard, even thinking about it causes a choke in my throat and my eyes to water! Reminders like today help so much :)

Hero's

No greater love!

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dDnrLv6z-mM

I heard about these two a few years ago, but it still touches my heart. I saw them complete the boston marathon this year on TV and I cried! This is what true love and sacrifice truly is! I only hope I could aspire to this :)

80 over 80

http://www.slate.com/id/2232918/

According to Slate Magazine, Pres. Thomas S. Monson is the #1 most powerful person over 80 in America!

Rightly so, and should be!

If people listened to him more than others in the media... this world would be a whole different place, Literally!

I sure hope!

That this baby is a boy! This is why...

* I just bought aden and anais swaddle blankets from babysteals.com at 45% off! In boy colors.
* I haven't come up with any girl names that I like yet, though the boy name I like... barry isn't sure about!
* I think Tommy would love having a little brother! He wants it to be a boy!
* When I only had a boy, I thought it would be fun to dress up a little girl, now that I have a little girl, I think it will be fun to dress up a little boy! Silly, I know!
* Even though barry wants another girl, I think he would love another boy.
* and, I have always kind of known what I was having before it came and been right. This time, I feel like I am having a boy... so I am getting ready!

23 Weeks, some insight and some fun!

This is the smallest my stomach has for a few days!
I've learned something lately...
If you sleep deprive yourself, your stomach looks bigger! It's true. In the morning, pregnant or not, your tummy is always smaller. Through the day with food, gravity and being tired, your tummy starts to sag or stick out more. So, when I work nights a lot, my stomach doesn't have the chance to get back to normal. Luckily I got a lot of sleep yesterday and last night! Lots of time for my body to digest of those nutrients and time for my tummy muscles to remember what they are there for. So this morning I feel like a normal person again!

My weight gain to date is about 17 lbs. That is mostly in my chest and butt! :)

Missed my Dr. appt last week due to the weather, so I haven't been to the Dr. in about 5 weeks. I will see him next wed, then I finally get to start seeing the OB next month.

On another note...

We went to Butterfield Acres last week. They had their annual pumpkin hunt. The kids had a lot of fun! I just hope next year it isn't so muddy! Kyla's clothes were black by the end of the day!

Real Age Test

Have you ever wondered what your real age is?

I took this BIG test and my result was... 25.9 pretty good since I turn 29 in January!

Of course, this isn't based on lab work etc, and they have to believe what I say in my answers. So it could be off a bit, but it was interesting to see! Plus it gave me some good information for becoming more healthy, such as;

Boost the vitamins I consume in food, not just supplements.

Do more strength training.

Stop Worrying

Do breast self exams and get a yearly screening

Stop using the phone while driving

Have time for myself and reach out to others for help

Go try it :)

Oh, yeah...

Aren't we glad they sacrifice so much!! I thought this was cute and funny!

Made these...

Tommy and I made these today.

Trick or Treat bags!!

I got the idea from here. Best of all, no sewing required!

It was actually pretty easy and fun. They probably ended up costing $10.00 each, but i have leftover stuff, so if making more than two it would be cheaper per bag! Tommy was able to help me with some of the parts too. I am very proud of them, plus they will last longer than the store bought plastic bags I usually get!!!

A new girl!!!

No, I didn't find out what I'm having!!

We dropped our puppy off at the groomers this morning. She got the full puppy treatment! She looks like a brand new puppy to me! I think I can finally say, I love her :) I like her hair short.

They told us they were very impressed with her behavior. She just let them do whatever they wanted and she didn't complain at all. Me and the kids were shocked when we went to pick her up, she looks so cute!!

Though, she wasn't cooperating with me and the camera! I did get a few pictures :)

Everyday Heros'

The high school marching band from American Fork High School where I graduated was involved in an accident last night.

This band is a icon in Utah and a HUGE part of the community in American Fork. It is one of, if not the largest band in the state and they have been invited over the years to play in the Rose Bowl Parade and the Thanksgiving Day parade televised from NYC. I remember when I was young we used to go to the edge of town to watch the band buses come in with a police escort after winning competition over competition.
They are the pride of American Fork!

They were traveling home from Pocatello Idaho where they had just won 1st place in that competition. There were four buses. The driver from the second bus passed out due to a medical issue.

This extraordinary teacher, immediately jumped up to grab the wheel and try to control the bus, but was thrown from the window just as the bus rolled, and lost her life.

It is people like this that we look up to!

Best 5 min Dessert!

When I was working 12 hour shifts at the hospital in Texas and coming home FAMISHED! I would make these and eat two for dinner! Only every once in a while! haha, I know that sounds bad, but I was single, happy and when you work those kind of hours with one 30 min break. You get hungry for Sugar :)

I made this tonight because I was craving something sweet, with chocolate, but didn't want to make a whole batch of something! Here is the Recipe
Crepes

2 eggs
1 c. milk
2/3 c. flour
1 pinch salt
1 1/2 T butter melted
2 T sugar
Vanilla
Just put it all in a bowl, then blend with a hand mixer. Heat skillet, spray with Pam. Pour about 1/3 c amount into hot pan. Swirl pan around to coat. Crepe should be perfectly round and come up the sides of the pan a bit. cook for about 1 min, flip. cook one more min than take it off. It's done!
You can put whatever you like on it! Lay it flat, fold in or roll it!

Tonight I Layed it flat, smeared it with lots of nutella (My fetus was begging me!) sprinkled with banana and strawberry slices. Covered with another crepe.. GIGGLE! Then topped with a scoop of vanilla ice cream! It was gone in 6.2 seconds! You better believe it! And I have leftover batter in the fridge for another day!

Awkward Family Photos

This website is so funny. It saved me from my extremely boring shift last night! Maybe it was that I was so tired, but I was laughing myself to tears! Literally. Here are a few I thought were funny. You have to read to sentence below the picture to really get it!

I hate these days!

My son is a regular jet setter! All the staff at American Airlines knows him by name now!
All this is good, but it really sucks to watch him walk toward his flight backwards while playing "paper, rock, scissors" with me from a distance!
It's all I can do not to run and grab him and hold on to him forever!
It's only 5 days this time, but a LONG five days!
I for sure don't have any trouble knowing what I am thankful for this Thanksgiving!
This NEVER gets easier... ever!
We miss you already Tommy. Be safe, be good and be happy.
We love you!!!

The tale of the...

Low Carb Cheesecake!

My husband LOVES cheesecake! When we were dating and he was watching his sugar intake, he used to drive to the cheesecake factory, run in, get a slice of low carb cheesecake... then proceed to eat it in front of me! And he is not one to share! He did this often!

As weird as it sounds, this is one of the things that drew me to him initially. The fact that he didn't bend over backwards for me or put me on a pedestal. I was done dating those desperate 30 something LDS guys that will do whatever just to get you to marry them! Barry was okay with his life, enjoyed dating me but wasn't feeling the need to impress me per se or jump into his THIRD proposal! Yet... I guess I turned out amazing cause after three months of that, he pulled out a ring!

Back to the point :) He is on another health kick, so I googled a "Cheesecake Factory Low Carb Cheesecake Recipe." I made it today, it puffed up like a souffle and I probably should have used a spring form pan

(there was a bit of overflow, which lead me to turn the self cleaning over on after, which lead to lots of smoke, which lead to the fire alarm going off again and again, which lead to all the windows and door being opened and me under the fire alarm swinging a towel from side to side!)

but... the pieces I ate off the edge before putting it in the fridge were absolutely DELICIOUS!!! I don't know if it tastes the same, cause remember... he never shared with me!
But, here is the recipe :)

photo is not a representation of the flavor :)

Cheesecake Factory Low Carb Cheesecake tastalike

Crust...
1/4 cup Finely Chopped pecans
1/4 cup Finely Chopped almonds
1/4 cup Finely Chopped walnuts
3/4 cup almond meal (almond flour)
2 Tablespoons butter (melt in microwave)

Filling...
1 1/2 pounds cream cheese
1 1/3 cups Pourable Splenda (or other sugar substitute that is equal to 1 1/3 cups sugar)
5 eggs
2 teaspoons vanilla
2 teaspoons lemon juice
16 ounces sour cream

Cream cheese and eggs should be at room temperature before you start.
How To Prepare:
Mix all nuts and almond meal with melted butter and press into a spring form pan, trying to line the sides as much as possible about 1 1/2 inches up the sides of the pan, set aside to mix filling.

Start by beating the cream cheese until light and fluffy. Keep the mixer on a low setting throughout the beating and mixing process. Add the sugar substitute a little at a time and continue beating until creamy. Add one egg at a time and beat after each egg. When eggs have been mixed into the cream cheese, add vanilla and lemon juice, Add the sour cream last until just blended in.

Pour cream cheese mixture into the spring form pan. Place on the top rack in the middle of a 325 degree preheated oven for one hour and 15 minutes. If you want a cheesecake with a less brown top, put on the next rack down. Also, some have commented that they had a few cracks... Remember not to open the oven while baking, this might make it crack. You might also want to try a water bath but its not really necessary. When time is up, turn off the oven and prop open the oven door... leave in oven for one hour. After one hour, remove from oven. Run a knife around the edge of the cheesecake also, so if it shrinks while cooling it will not crack at that time either. Let cool to just about room temperature before the cheesecake is put into the refrigerator for 24 hours.

Make sure you wait the 24 hours before sampling... A cheesecake should season. The wait is worth it. The flavor ripens and becomes enriched.

Many commenter's said it was good the first day, better the second and amazing the third! Let's see if it lasts that long!

21 Weeks Today

19 more to go...
I am thinking of making a chain today with the kids.

Well, a couple of chains. Count down to Halloween, countdown to Christmas then count down to baby!
Here are my 21 week pictures I took this morning.
Now off to the Gym... I am going to attempt a spin class today, Scary!

Monday, October 5, 2009

I have recently put more effort into my long lost love of yoga!

I went sometimes twice a day after Kyla and that is how I lost the baby weight.

Well, I went off and on in the very beginning of this pregnancy, but than got busy, lazy and sick.

Now I am trying to go at least a few times a week again.

But, I do say that the thousands of tricep push ups and down dogs are really hard with the extra 15 lbs.

I should never have stopped going!

So for those of you that are unfamiliar with yoga, we do about a million Vinyasa'a or Sun Salutations.
At one point during these, you end up in a push up position, then lower yourself so you are hovering just above the floor (See chart- 2 row, 4th picture).
From here you push off your toes and come into an upward dog position (Row 3, 1st Picture). Well, this has always be quite easy for me.
Well, before I gained all this prego weight!
The instructor told me that as my belly gets bigger, I just don't go down as far, but I can still do it.
Well, what if my arms aren't strong enough???
For now if I get too tired, I can go all the way onto my tummy, then arch up, but that wont work for much longer!
Little bit of a dilemma!
I guess I better start lifting some weights to prepare for yoga... haha, sounds funny!
I do see and feel the major benefits of doing yoga through pregnancy!
For one... If you can breath through a yoga class while pregnant, you can breath through ANYTHING! :)

I saw this video between the two sessions today. It touched my heart and had to post it.

I sure do love 'em

JUST LIKE THIS!!!FYI: Don't look too long, you'll fall in love too :)

First Haircut... If you can call it that :)

I took Kyla for her first hair cut.

For $16.50 here is what I got.

The stylist cut the cute curls off the back, than said... is that good?

Uh, What, seriously?

I said, "Well, her hair in the front covers her eyes and it's all wispy."

Then I explained how I normally style her hair.

So, she gave her a part for bangs, then trimmed the bangs.

That's it!

A bang trim and cut to cutest part of her hair off the back...

at least she didn't charge us for the cute clip she put in Kyla's hair :)
