Go team go!!!

To my fellow Kareen cheerleaders...

The Cox family has an appt in May with the government in Kareens country. So I believe they are headed to meet her on the 14th on May. SO EXCITING!!! I hope you are all following their progress. If you helped me raise funds for them than you get to experience the joy right along with them! You helped bring this little girl home!!!

I loved this video! I work with the elderly all the time and they are often misunderstood!

It's sometimes hard to realize that they are just like us, they may not have their memories or their full brain function; But, after you take the time to get to know them, they are amazing!

They remember me when I show up at work and many of them have a joke or want to pat my tummy! Others may not remember me, but their funny personalities make me smile!

I am working on Christmas day from 3pm - 11pm and was kind of down about this, until I saw this video! My family will be okay of Christmas without me, but these sweet people may not have anyone else to give them a hug of Christmas Day! It will be good for me and them :)

Merry Christmas!!

Putting your heart and mind in the correct holiday mode!!!

This morning Bright and Early...5:30. Barry and I woke up to head downtown with some friends. (thanks again for everyone showing up, I know it was early!!!) We served Breakfast to the masses at the Calgary Drop-in and Rehab Center. When we were finished and leaving... all the homeless people there were applauding us and saying thank you and Merry Christmas. It was so touching to see how much they appreciate a simple meal! It makes me realize what we take for granted! That is why I love Christmas... it's a yearly reminder to
-love one another

-help those in need

-count our blessing

-give of our time, talents or money

-value the most important things on this earth...our families

-and most importantly...remember our Savior, who came to the world to sacrifice FOR US!!! He loves us all equally and wants us all to be happy and return to him!!

I am so thankful for this yearly reminder!!! Merry Christmas to all!!!

Soooo Blessed!

I have been reading about the fires in California. My mom and dad both grew up there and I have relatives (not in the area of the fires) that still live in california! I can't help but feel so blessed and proud of the amount of relief our church does for these people, all people...not just members! I am happy to know that if there is a disaster where I live... I will not have to feel alone! That is a great thing, because I think it is only a matter of time before we have to struggle through something scary and tragic! My goal is to be better prepared myself, so when something happens... I can be "the aid" instead of "the victim."

*.*.*. Apples to Apples.*.*.*

Everyone knows (especially my close friends) that I get on these little hobby spurts... two weeks ago it was martha stewart crafts. Right now it is food storage...I wonder what it will be next?
So I have been drying apples for my food storage. I am forever thankful for my apple peeler/slicer! Without this, it would take me forever! Thanks to good friends also for doing my apples last night while I got ready for pictures! Today I am doing apples for them!

I also started getting 72 hr emergency kits together. (Plus walmart had backpacks for $5.00, Yeah!)It's actually quite fun to put these kits together and tommy loves helping...he made sure to put bandaids in the kits...Just in case!

If anyone is interested, my family is going to be ordering a pallet (contains 240) of 4 gallon air tight storage containers for food storage. If you would like some...let me know. They will be 6$ each. I am buying about 25 for now! We will also be ordering honey, let me know if you want that too... There is also a location here in calgary that sells 5 gallon water jugs. They are members and if you tell them they are for food storage they will add extra stuff to keep the water from going stale! This may not be the cheapest way to store water...in the long run. But, They are only about 10$ each and you can buy some now and keep adding to your storage as money permits and the water will taste better than the large water tanks!
I can get you the info if you are interested!

So today I will be busy in my basement building shelves and such for food storage...
I am so excited!!!
