He agree's with me!!!

We had Kyla's Pediatrician Appt today. (For those of you in the states, the way they do it in Canada is; everyone goes to the family doctor even the babies and the moms for their girly stuff. Then if there is something out of the ordinary, they can refer you to a specialist ie; a pediatrician etc...)

So, we went today. The funny part is, he walked in and said, "So what are your concerns today." I said, "I don't have any concerns, but our family doctor wanted her checked because she is small for her age." Well, he assessed her and asked some questions. He gave us some lab sheets to rule out a few things (Celiac Disease and Cystic Fibrosis). But, he said that he thinks I am right and she is just genetically small. He agreed with me that if she had any problem with absorption, she would not look as healthy! It was so great to have my education acknowledged by a doctor, outside of work. He kept saying things like, "Well, you being a nurse would understand that." or "You, with your education, could tell a malnourished child from a healthy one." It felt great. She weighed 17 lbs and was 29 1/2 inches.
So, we go to the lab in April to get blood work, urinalysis and a sweat test done. Then back to the doctor in May. He wants her to weigh 18 lbs in May. I am crossing my fingers!!!

Besides the fact that you are a nurse, you are a mom. Every time I take my boys to the walk-in I know exactly what's wrong with them. I just need a prescription. There's a lot to be said for mother's intuition too. But I understand the need to have your hard earned education acknowledged!

Way to go. Mom instincts are fairly reliable. I'm glad that you were assured of that.
