I have dicided that my child is a picky eater! I always give her a large variety of food options, but 75% of it ends up on the floor! Barry thinks maybe I should feed it to her instead of letting her eat it off her tray! I may give that a try, but... anyone have any ideas for food? I am running out. What do your kids like to eat? She has an appt with the pediatrician in a month and I don't want him to think I starve my daughter! Maybe she is just tired of what I offer her!

Elizabeth has been slow to welcome new foods into her diet as well. About a month ago I did a little test to she if she was just rejecting the new food because it was different or because it tasted horrible (all the Gerber stuff is pretty bad). I put a little ice cream on my finger and put it in her mouth. I think the cold threw her off, but when I put more on my finger she excitedly ate it up.
I would give her something you know she likes and a new food on the same plate. I've heard that after it has been on their plate a lot they become familar with and it's not scary to give it a try. Have you heard of the cookbook deceptively delicous, check it out! I also think it's more fun for kids her age to feed themselves at their own pace. But go with you mother's instinct,it's God's gift to Mom's.
the nurse I just took Evan to says that it is normal for kids to stop eating and not stress about it, because when you stress they stress and stop more. She said the most beneficial thing you can do is give them as much healthy high fat as possible. Dribble olive oil in and on everything. If she takes anything in her mouth it is something and count it as good. I have even put olive oil in his milk, he doesn't notice and I know he is getting double the goodness.
p.s. LOVE the new background!
When Max was a year old, he loved yogurt, mac and cheese, biscuits, and eggs. I think as long as she's getting her milk, she's fine! And, I agree, you need to go with your mother's instinct!
I think limit the options. We have a tendancy to just throw everything on the tray and sometimes thats overwhelming. And I do feed them on top of letting them feed themselves. I count the self feeding as a way for me to get a bite in.
