Be still my soul!

I have been thinking a lot about how it is important to teach the gospel in the home, since kids only get a little while a week in primary/Sunday school. So when I came across this blog http://www.jonlund.com/blog/Lunds/Favorites.html,
I was thrilled! I gives great ideas for teaching your children the scriptures. I have decided to challenge Tommy to read the Book of Mormon cover to cover before he turns 12 and gets the priesthood. I also picked up some younger versions for the girls to enjoy. Last night I asked Tommy to go read a few chapters to Kyla before she went to bed. I thought it would be good for him to read the stories to her, because when you read it apposed to listening, you sometimes get more out of it. Well when I went up to check on their progress, I found this. Tommy was helping Kyla say her prayers.

All the gray hairs are worth these moments that literally
take my breath away!!!

Some sidewalk fun!

Pinterest is a wonderful thing, when you us it!! I came across this site (http://www.littlehandsbigwork.com/2010/03/fun-side-walk-games.html) that talks about making chalk games. I usually just sit there and let my kids draw with chalk or help them make hopscotch. But now I see chalk in a whole new light! Now my brain is racked with trying to come up with more ideas...
Here is what we did yesterday.
I know it is hard to see these pictures, but in this one I wrote the upper case alphabet randomly on the driveway and I told Kyla she had to start at A and jump from letter to letter all the way to Z. It was good practice for her to identify the letters. After they get better, you could time them and have races to see who can do it the fastest.
In this one I just drew lines and they had to try to walk across them without stepping off. then you could do other things on the line like bear crawl, hopping etc...
This one I drew different colored circles and told Kyla to get from one side to the other but she had to stay in the "pink" circles. Then we would switch colors.
Then I decided to do one more, with numbers. In this she had to roll a set of dice, count the dots and stand on the corresponding number.

Sports and more sports!

I wont lie and say I am the calm mother out on the court. I'll admit to yelling at the referee a few times and pointing out some opposing team elbowing!! Yeah they are only 10 but, this is serious business!! haha. Some days I got myself going so much that it was physically draining to me if they lost.

But, It's fun to see Tommy improve every year!! And I love when he says, "Mom, yell at me while I play so i push myself harder!"

Next year i wont have to be so crazy because Barry is going to coach again and he is crazy enough!!! Which is good, I'm looking forward to a great season next fall!!

In Feb we took the family to see the Globetrotters!! Aren't my kids the cutest???

Tommy and Kyla thought this was Hilarious! Obviously!

And obviously being the golf family we are, it was inevitable that Kyla would get some new golf clubs this year. Tommy and I both were surprised with new clubs for Christmas. So kyla was just dying for her own set! I have to keep reminding her not to practice with real golf balls in the front yard... I do not want to pay for any new windows!!

And again, baseball season is upon us, and I can't seem to get many pictures!! But I am so excited for these boys right now! We are going into the playoffs in 2nd place!!! Hoping for a championship trophy!!!

My boy in the center of the photo is just too cute for his own good!!!

Lets take it way back...

Blogging back to January, when we celebrated in style. Because that is just what my girl Kyla deserves!

For her 4th birthday we had a movie/dance party with a cotton candy machine, cake pops, soda, popcorn... the works!

Complete with a "homemade" balloon drop.
(Just after hanging this sheet, I saw a real balloon drop holder at the dollar store, but refused to let my hard work go to waste ;)
These kids know how to have a good time!!!
Especially when you have special guest... The Street Goons!!!
Yes, my son and his friends have started their own dance crew. The Street Goons!
Let it be known, these guys will knock your socks off!
