Watch out... we've got MAD SKILLS!

This must be documented!

Lets start by saying, everything I know about the game of rook I learned from my husband. He "thinks" he's the ultimate rook player. Probably due to the countless hours he spend playing with the family of his high school crush :) He is pretty good.... But... hahaha... not as good as me!

In our late night down time at the cabin, we would play. Husbands against wives. My partner Christy who hasn't played in years sure caught on quick and together we left the boys in tears! The first two games we beat them by over 300 points! So the next day (after Barry picked his ego off the ground) we let them try to redeem themselves. Well, game one they almost did (only lost by 100 points) but that wasn't enough. They wanted some more beatings!! Final game score (before they quit) was somewhere around 480 for the girls and -325 for the boys!

My husband still can't wrap his head around this SLAUGHTER! This will have to become a tradition!

Good things to come!

Tomorrow we head out to spend our week... here. Our Cabin!

With babes in sunhats, moms with feet up, kids too busy to be bored and dads available to play!

It is filled with... boating, cliff jumping, waterfall hiking, sunbathing, jetskiing, water skiiing, tubing, game playing, marshmallow roasting, canooing, paddle boating, fishing, rock throwing, star gazing, swimming, hammock laying heaven!! and lets not forget trips to the sea store for candy and ice cream!

It may not look like much, but it's one of my favorite spots on earth and with a view like this, how could you not love it!

Her own self!

I find myself looking at blogs of other babies with down syndrome and comparing macy to them. It's hard for me when I see other 6 or 7 month old down syndrome babies doing things like sitting up or army crawling, since Macy is doing neither. I know I shouldn't compare but it worries me a little. The Physical Therapists say she is doing fine... but I worry that I am not doing enough to teach her these things... Hmmm... Just some random thoughts.

My very own T-O-M-M-Y B-O-Y!

I was going to wait till tomorrow to post this but... it's raining and that makes me miss him even more!

The countdown has begun!
8 days till Tommy comes home!

We all miss him. Kyla has started crying for him! It has been a really hard summer without him! There is something so special about that little boy. I was talking to him on the phone the other day and out of the blue he said, "Mom, I love love love love love love you more than you could ever love me!" Uuhh, let me swallow the lump in my throat and try to breath through the tightening of my chest! I don't really think it is possible for a child to love their mother more than their mother loves them... it just isn't possible. But, for him to feel that way and say it to me is MAGICAL! I remember the day I held him in my arms for the first time and I knew my world had changed... for the better! During his short 8 years we have been through a lot together. He has always been the little man to stand by my side! He really is one of my best friends, we have lots of fun together! And I miss him intensely. You couldn't imagine how hard it is to share a child! It is the hardest thing I deal with in life. I can't wait to see him again!

If moms not happy... WATCH OUT!

Everyone who knows me well knows that if Barry isn't happy, it literally effects all in our house! I am really good at self sacrificing to make sure that my family is happy. But, I have realized lately that in doing this... I am losing myself and is essence... losing my mind, haha. So I came up with a plan to put myself back into the picture here. Cause from now on, if I'm not happy... Watch out! I read a book recently called The Next Thing On My List. A good beach read. Light, soft, airy, with a few funny moments and an ending that may change my life!

I'm starting a list. Not a bucket list (I'm not about to die) Just a list, about 15-20 things per year to do for myself! I'll start a shorter one to end this year. Rules? Everything must be completed by the end of the year, in no particular order or time. Just get it done! What goes on the list? Here are a few I have thought of...

1. Do something once a week with a friend (daytime or nighttime, with kids or without)
2. Go to Head Smashed in Buffalo Jump (a place in southern Alberta Ive been wanting to see.)
3. Run a 5K.
4. Take my kids to The Olympic Park (never been and lived here 4 years)
5. Plan an occasion to dress up to the nines and go out with the ladies in my life, maybe to the ballet!

That's just a start. I'm still thinking. But while life is going, I better start living it right!
