A day for some air...

After my very sick day, BTW I am chocking it up to the fact that I didn't eat breakfast, then I watched Revolutionary Road. That is why I became so sick and threw up! Never watch that movie. Pointless, sick and nauseating!!!
Back to the subject at hand, after that day, I thought a day out of the house would do me well. So I escaped with some friends out to drumheller and the Dinosaur museum. Travel Channel rates the Tyrrell Dinosaur Museum as one of the Top 10 in the world. I was amazed that the museum has a number of working scientists still uncovering remains today. We read that every year when the snow melts, the scientists discover more remains due to the erosion. I found this article on the Smithsonian website.
"Last month I asked readers of this blog to vote for which location deserved the title of “Dinosaur Capital of the World.” Glen Rose, Texas quickly jumped into the lead, but many commenters voiced their preference for Drumheller, Alberta. Glen Rose might have the tracks, they say, but it is hard to beat Drumheller when it comes to the abundance of fossil bones."
I am starting the think that Alberta was once "The Great Valley!" :)
Obviously with my stomach feeling better today, I couldn't resists... Two all beef patties, special sauce, lettuce, cheese, pickles, onion on a sesame seed bun :)
This is the real foot/leg of a dinosaur.
You can't see it, but there is a giant T-Rex behind us... YIKES!

We went on the little hike around the badlands. Now tell me, does this landscape not just scream dinosaur? It is amazing how different it looks than in Calgary. Though, they say when the dinosaurs roamed here, the landscape was like that of modern day Florida. Oh, please... lets go back to that :)

I kept singing... "I got some, ocean front property in Alberta-a, from my front porch I can see the sea..." anyway, a girl can dream, Right!

Tears, Nausea and Vomiting...

It seems that everything has come to a head today for me. It's been 3 1/2 weeks since Tommy has been gone and it's harder than ever today. I miss him so badly! It's absolutely amazing what our kids do to change us. It's even stranger to think that my happiness is dependent on having them around. I did call him today, he is fine and that make things okay. But, he did say, "Right now I am not having so much fun cause I miss my family." It was really sweet and I know he said it to make me feel better!
It maybe doesn't help that for the first time in my three pregnancies, I have felt extremely sick! I am sure my neighbors thought it was fabulous to see me hunched over in my front yard throwing up today. I just couldn't get to the bathroom fast enough.
Good news is, I only work one night this week, so maybe that will help and I only have 3 weeks till Tommy is home, so I am more than half way.

Any Pointers?

I am determined not to let my butt get out of control this pregnancy! :) I gained forty pounds with both my kids so far. I think that is actually a healthy amount of weight gain, but when I am honest with myself, I know that a lot of the chocolate and overeating and not exercising made for an harder comeback after! Plus, when you can't fit your backside into your elastic or drawstring scrub pants... it's a problem :)

So, I went to the gym for the first time this summer. I have been slacking, mostly because my year of free childcare ended :( Anyway, I did weights and then part of a spin class. I ended up feeling good, but super nauseous! I don't want that to stop me from working out. I see so many cute pregnant ladies with perfect bodies and big watermelon tummy's at the gym. If they can do it, so can I! Any Pointers for good prego workouts or what to do to prepare so I don't get nausea?
On a side note, I am so so sad that Janette is off SYTYCD. Big Huge Bummer!

Wow!

I know I already posted about dance. I'm sorry, but I couldn't help myself :) If you didn't watch tonights show of SYTYCD than I am sorry you wont be able to see the judges comments and the amount of tears shed! Here is the dance

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hKxoCxalyWw

I had to watch it twice, because my eyes were so filled with tears that I couldn't see the end of the dance.

My grandma passed away from Breast Cancer in her 40's. My dad was so extremely upset that he couldn't go to her funeral. My grandma got pregnant with my dad before she was married and the guy ran off. My dad was later adopted by the man she married, but my dad was definently always a mamma's boy. I was never able to meet her, but my mom tells me that I have so many of the same qualities she had. My mom also tells us that she fell in love with her well before she fell in love with my dad. She was an amazing woman. I look forward to hugging her one day!

I am so glad I saw this dance tonight!!!

Some of my favs...

Most of you know that I grew up dancing.
There isn't much that gets me feeling as good as dancing, but with kids and a family,
it's been put to the side.
Here are some of my favorite dances from this season of SYTYCD. I lean more towards the contemporary pieces because that is what I did and I can relate to it more.
The emotion and reality in the dance is out of this world. Brought me to tears, especially because addiction is so real! I don't think the choreography could have been any better!
Many of us can remember those puppy love's that we had when we were kids. This is just an adult extension of that. This dance is so sweet! Jeanine is really starting to impress me!
Okay, straight up... There is nothing better than a ballerina. She couldn't be more beautiful! Her extension is out of this world! And, come on does he look AMAZING in white or what???
I have to put this one on for Barry, he watched it like 4 times in a row! I love an emotional hip hop piece! and Phillip, seriously? Wicked moves! Untrained... that's incredible!
Aren't Tabitha & Napoleon a dynamite couple in the choreography world!
This was a fun dance to watch.
I love Ade, his pic is hilarious! You're never disappointed with a routine from Tabitha & Napoleon
At this point, I think I would like to see Kayla win!
If you can :) Here are some of the ones from past seasons that I continue to go and watch on youtube about once a month! I'm a freak, I know :) I could never get tired of watching Allison Holker dance.
Travis Wall is Amazing
Sabra was my favorite from day 1. So glad she won season 3 :)
for this next one you have to fast forward to about 2:50
I think Chelsie Hightower is Beautiful!
Obviously you had to love Katie and Josh
There are so many I love!!! But this post is getting long :)

He made me do it...

So, while Tommy is away in Texas, his door stays shut!
I barely like to look at the door as I come up the stairs or walk past.
Whenever I find something of his or do some of his laundry,
I open the door with my eyes shut and just toss the stuff in there.
I know, not the best thing to be teaching my kids, but Kyla is too young to know :)

So, Sunday night, Barry told me that his mom was sleeping over since
1. I had to work
2. He was doing a major stake out at the Golf Course for some pesky 14 yr olds who like to hot wire and joy ride on our golf carts in the night.

Well, if anyone knows my mother in law, she is VERY clean. Very doesn't really even touch how clean she is! Put it this way, if she comes in my house when it's dirty, she will spend the next several hours cleaning it. Very thoughtful, but embarrassing too!

So, with me being afraid that she would venture into Tommy's room, Barry told me maybe I should go clean it. YIKES... Seriously? He is still gone for about 4 weeks. Do I really want to drain my tear ducts so soon? So So sad!!! I really didn't want to go and smell him and see the drool spots on his pillow and trip over the million webkins he has or heaven forbid come across one of the books we read a lot! It's how I get through these summers without him.!.

Well, I went and cleaned to room. It's done, it was sad. I found a tooth under his pillow, a tooth that the tooth fairy has already paid him for... the sneaky boy! I should have known when he told me to tell the tooth fairy that he wanted to keep it and still get money. I also found his wallet, safely stowed deep in the covers with a "Live Strong" bracelet around it. (To keep all the cash from falling out, I'm sure). Lets just put it this way... it was sad, but now it's done and I can shut the door again!

But, aside from his room, the other sad part is...

1. Kyla standing at the back door yelling, "Tommy" day after day.
2. Carter Leishman asking me if Tommy was coming home soon, then when told "no", looking down and saying, "I miss Tommy!"

I do too!

Just thought I would let the guys out there know...

Wes from the Bachelorette.
This is not cool!

You don't get any real chicks by acting this way and...

Hopefully because of this you wont sell records!

I'm not saying you can't serenade a woman, that is actually really sweet! But, sincerity goes a long way! And, you should be doing it for her and not for you!
You know that phrase "fake it till you make it." Well, that doesn't work in relationships!!!
I am so frustrated with this guy I don't even know where to begin, so I will need some posts here to help me out!

Here is part of his pathetic exit speech which doesn't include the part where he said
"the chains are off, I am going out tonight and I'll get some this time!"
-seriously? Does he think that is winning him points?

"She shot me down. I’m going down in flames. The first guy ever on ‘The Bachelorette’ to make it to the top four with a girlfriend. You know, I think it’s going to take me a long time to, you know, get back on my feet.”
He began to sound a little drunk as he went on: “My acting days are over. I’ve already done everything I need to do.” Having boasted of leading Jillian on, he decided to insult his competition: “Them boys couldn’t so much as get a nibble back in Texas.” He concluded by singing, “Everybody’s gonna know my name.”
-Yeah, as the biggest *@^& to ever go on reality TV.

Wow! I don't get it. At what point do guys think that kind of behaviour is cool? His exit show was the only show that I have ever felt actual happiness when he left! But, why did Jillian have to take so long? P-A-T-H-E-T-I-C!!!

So, what does everyone think about the remaining two?

*I think Kiptyn is super cute, but his mom is psycho!

*I think Ed is sweet and can hopefully... um, how do I say this... "please her" :)

*I think Kiptyn isn't as ready as Ed, but Ed still struggles with balancing his life!

*I don't care either way who she picks... but I am leaning toward Ed.

Finally Scrapbooking Again

I finally finished up Kyla's first year page. Then I did a few pages from my trip.
I struggled with how to scrapbook Kyla's birthday photos. That blue chair is an eye sore! I may end up changing them, we'll see.

I love the pictures of Kyla in the lake. The lighting was perfect and I like the angles I caught.

I like this photo of Kyla and Tommy, even with them not looking at the camera.

They are so comfy together!

Last I had to add this picture that I took of Kyla at the Beach in Amelia Island, Florida.

I think it is such a cool picture!
I tried to do something a little different with this photo of Kyla smelling the flowers

Okay... so the secret is out!

Well, it didn't take ages for us... I went off birth control the same month that I conceived.
So, there it is...
I'M PREGNANT!!!

I'm not so good with secrets, and the worst part is, I HAVE NO IDEA WHEN MY LAST PERIOD WAS. The receptionist at the doctors office thought that was pretty pathetic :) But, that's okay, I think it's pretty pathetic that they can't get me in until Aug 7th. So, by then I am just about done my first trimester. I guess that's not such a bad thing. We are really excited, but am actually looking forward to a long nine months. I still have a 1 year old that keeps me on my toes! So, hope you all enjoy the news... I'm going to go lay down :)

Travels... my longest post yet

This will be a quick overview of my travels the past few weeks. It started with a drive down to Utah with my kids (yes, crazy, I know). We spent about two weeks visiting family and friends. Then a few weeks after getting home, Tommy flew to Texas for the summer and Barry was going away on a business trip. I didn't want to be left home alone. So, we got me a ticket and I went along with Barry to North Carolina then we drove to Florida for a few days. Here are some pictures.

In Utah, I wanted to take my kids to do a bunch of things I had done as a kid. But, first I spent an afternoon remembering one of my best friends. She past away the summer of 2006. I thought it would be easy to see her grave, but as soon as I got there and saw her picture, I lost it! So did my mom and sister. She was a part of our family for quite a few years, she traveled with us and I spent every day with her. I wasn't able to attend her funeral but my mom said there were many pictures of Emily, myself and my sister at the funeral and there was a video of us dancing together. I miss her.

Okay, on to happier thoughts (I need to get the lump out of my throat!)

We spent an afternoon having a picnic at a really fun park in Cedar Hills.

Then we headed up Provo Canyon to see Bridal Veil Falls. When I was a kid, there was a gift shop, a tram ride up to the top of the mountain where you could hike or go to a restaurant, a small petting zoo, a place to pan for fake gold and we could hike up to the falls. But, a few years back an avalanche came through and destroyed most of it. Now you can pretty much just look at the water. and, The restaurant on top of the mountain burnt down a few years ago. But we had fun playing there anyway! Obviously Kyla didn't like the water as much as Tommy did...
My aunt got us tickets to go see Beauty and the Beast the play at an outdoor amphitheatre. Tommy absolutely loved it!!! He had a great time, Kyla slept through the entire thing. Tommy just had to get pictures with the Characters after.
This is the Prince/Beast
This is Lumiere (The Candlestick). He was HILARIOUS!!
This is Gaston. For as manly as he acted on stage... He sure wasn't manly in person!

He was the magic carpet. He did lots of gymnastics and Tommy loved that!
This is LeFou, Gastons extremely clumsy sidekick.

One day we went to the Bingham Copper mine which is the world's largest man-made excavation. It's really amazing to see. While we were there we got to see an explosion.
This is a tire from one of the trucks. When you look down at these trucks from the viewing spot, they look like mini matchbox cars.
Then we headed off the the International Peace Gardens in Salt Lake. We always enjoyed this as kids. I think it's a hidden gem in Utah.

The International Peace Gardens, located on the bank of the Jordan River in Salt Lake City, was founded as a citizenship project and as a lesson in peace and understanding between nations. The endeavor is evidence that people from many lands can unite in building a monument to peace.
Part of Utah history, the garden was conceived in 1939 and dedicated in 1952

After that, we were off to Liberty Park to play in the water.

The kids could have stayed here all day!

We hiked up to Timpanogas Cave one morning

Tommy became a junior rangerWe did many other things like going to Seven Peaks water park and Lagoon. We went up the canyon to roast marshmallows and hotdogs. We went to a petting zoo and fed some animals. But, sometimes it's so hard to lug around a big camera. So I don't have pictures of that. But here are the kids at Jordans Wedding... Pretty cute! Kyla was a flower girl, but was unwilling to get in any pictures unless I held her.

I think she was getting homesick.

So, then after getting home, Tommy went to Texas and Barry, Kyla and I flew to Charlotte, NC. We stayed one night in "The Carolina" at the Pinehurst Resort. It was absolutely gorgeous! It was built in 1901.

We thought these three southern ladies in the pool were so cute, we had to take a picture! Barry played two rounds of golf at Pinehurst. Here is the famous Putter Boy.Barry played the famous Pinehurst No. 2 and then they also played no. 4. Pinehurst has 8 golf courses on the resort. No. 2 is the only one played on the PGA tour.
We got Kyla to give this statue a kiss, it was so funny. I love the homes in the south, they are so charming with their big wrap around porches.
These pictures are from the lake at pinehurst, the water was a perfect temp. Too bad I didn't have an lil swimmers. That diaper is getting pretty full!

After a day there, we drove down to Jacksonville, Florida. Barry had meetings a lot and so Kyla and I went exploring. We went to the town of St. Augustine - Its the oldest continually inhabited city in north america. While there I was able to drink from the real "fountain of youth", and I found out why they thought it made you live forever. Ask me if you are interested. There was a lot to do there, I would like to go back someday.

The next day that barry had meetings, I went to Amelia Island and saw the Kingston Plantation, which is the oldest plantation still standing in florida. They grew sea island cotton among other things. They had about 80 slaves. The owner was actually quite nice to his slaves and was married to a slave he bought in haiti who became a free black.

This is the home and the building to the left was the kitchen. They had the kitchen in a seperate building in case of fires and to keep the smells out of the main house. These are the slave cabins. A family would live in this. Of course it used to have a roof.If you look at this picture, just past the tree line was where all the cotton was harvested. This is that same road today, past the tree line is jungle so dense you can't see through it. After the plantation Kyla and I headed to the beach. I could have spent all day here. Kyla was a little afraid of the water though.

On our way back to Charlotte, NC, we stopped in Savanna, GA.

It is the most amazing place. We only had a few hours but I am dying to go back. The history of savanna is very interesting. From the civil war sites, to the pirates, to the cotton selling. It was a huge seaport town that sent stuff back and forth from liverpool england. Its been a whirlwind, but I am glad to be home. In my own bed!
