Hi - Heather Seal pointed me to your blog. I just 'met' her through the blog world and had to say hi. First of all, congratulations on your adorable new daughter! I'm a little partial to a child like her because I have a 3 year old son with Down syndrome. Much of what you are experiencing right now I've already gone through - especially the extended hospital stay stuff. Some babies with DS go home quickly, but that's not what happened to us! Grant spent 2 months in the hosptial - I had to laugh when you wrote that you were 'getting sick of this place'. I was beginning to go absolutely crazy there and just wanted him home. I didn't catch in the reading why exactly your Macy is still there - Grant had a problem called TEF/EA that required surgery, then he couldn't feed properly by mouth so he needed to get a G-tube - that extended the stay a bit more. I remember those days of lugging my pump up to the NICU area and having to leave his bedside so they could NG or G tube feed him milk. He never could breastfeed or bottlefeed, so we relied on the G tube for quite awhile.

But now he's doing well - eating everything by mouth and drinking - and the Gtube is long gone. I hope these days are short and quick so you can get your baby home! They always do much better and everyone is more relaxed when you get back to the business of being a family.

When life slows down a bit, feel free to check out my blog - at least another gal in the world that knows what you are experiencing right now - the ups and downs and everything in between. If you click on my name it should take you to where my email and blog information are - contact me anytime if you need to!

Much luck and happiness to you and your sweet family. It sounds trite and cliche, but you will not believe the love you will have for that precious girl. You know you love her now...but just you wait! Our Grant has brought us happiness we never could have imagined - for every hardship there are 10x more joyful moments. At the beginning it was very hard, but I thank Heavenly Father every day for thinking me worthy to be his mom.

Oh yeah! I know this is world's longest comment from stranger but I wanted to add that on our blog in March 2009 I did a weeks worth of posting about Down syndrome - info from a parents point of view mixed in with some stories. Okay - sorry for the long comment - go enjoy your beautiful new daugther!

Kathy, I also wanted to point you to a blog. Tommy has a 2nd or 3rd cousin with Down Syndrome. I don't know if you remember the Smiths. My dad is cousins with the Smiths and their Daughter Lisa Smith has down syndrome.

She has a website. http://lisasmith.us/ You should visit it. DS has not slowed her down. She learned sign language about 3-5 years ago. I'm not really sure. She learned it while watching someone sign in church and then picked up the gift and ran with it. She shares her talent with many famous Christian singers. She has even been to Arnold Schwarzenegger home and performed.

Check our her site. She truly amazing. There is also a link to watch her video.

I know I just posted a view moments ago on another post, but my thoughts are all surrounding your family. Again, your daughter is beautiful.
